Reverend Johnson was ordained as a Senior Worship Pastor by the First Baptist Church in 1976.  In addition, he was appointed to the role of Advisory Wedding Officiant and Wedding Minister by the Home Mission Board. He is a graduate of both the University of Georgia and Columbia  Seminary.  Reverend Johnson is the Founder of the Gwinnett Christian Counseling Center for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Along with this, Minister Johnson also founded the Family Bible Fellowship in Atlanta. Afterwards, he served as Senior Pastor for Monfort Road Baptist Church also in Atlanta. Reverend Johnson has been a Staff Chaplain for Georgia Baptist Hospital and for the Veterans Administration Hospital.

Additionally, he has served as an Officer/Chaplain in the United States Air Force. Pastor Johnson was Base Chaplain for Dobbins Air Force Base, Maxwell Air Force Base, and Pearl Harbor Naval Base. He is a combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm.

He gave the Air Force Prayer at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington, D.C.  Reverend Johnson was named "Atlanta's Top Wedding Minister" by the Atlanta Constitution. He wrote “The Meaning of the Unity Candle,” for Wikipedia Encyclopedia. Most importantly, he was an Editor for The New Military Bible. A Special Presentation copy is on display at the Gwinnett County Veteran's Museum.
